The Township of Langley seeks applicants on an ongoing basis to augment auxiliary positions for Recreation Attendant I / Recreation Cashier to join our team of professionals in the Recreation Culture and Parks Division; Recreation Facilities and Programs Department.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for providing a high level of customer service and performing routine clerical and facility tasks; providing factual information and assistance in response to public enquiries; receiving, recording and reconciling payments from patrons using the facility; performing minor custodial and set-up duties as well as routine facility patrol as required. You may assume responsibility for security of the centre; assist and orient auxiliary employees and open/close and oversee a facility during a regularly scheduled shift. It is essential you have strong interpersonal skills, are energetic, enthusiastic, and well organized, plus are able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external contacts.

Your education will include grade 12, supplemented by sound related experience dealing with the public, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public under varying conditions, receive money and issue change accurately and promptly, and be able to maintain clerical records related to the work. A strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a criminal record check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

A valid Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate is required.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $20.98 - $24.59 per hour (2015 rates) plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.

Successful applicants will also be hired into the role of Recreation Cashier. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $20.21 - $23.61 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates) plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.
