The City of Abbotsford is currently offering an exciting opportunity in our Bylaw Enforcement Division for an Auxiliary Bylaw Enforcement Officer.

As the successful applicant you will be responsible for inspection and regulatory work related to the enforcement of the City bylaws and for effectively and efficiently patrolling the community for adherence to the regulations. This position involves extensive contact with the public and close liaison with regulatory departments within the City and outside agencies.

Strong empathy, awareness and sensitivity to community issues such as diversity, homelessness and mental health issues will help you be successful in this role. Your will have a demonstrated ability to investigate complaints and enforce applicable bylaws and regulations with tact, sound judgement and exceptional communication/conflict resolution expertise.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

??? Grade 12 education with Level 1 and 2 of the Justice Institute???s Bylaw Enforcement Program and A minimum of three years??? experience in inspection work and/or law enforcement.
??? You must be eligible for membership in the Licence Inspectors??? and Bylaw Officers??? Association of B.C.
??? Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver???s Licence
??? Shift work including evening and weekends will be required.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $29.10 per hour to $34.22 per hour (2015 rate).
