Job Description: The City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is seeking regular full time Head Lifeguards to provide leadership, supervision and direction in the development of fun and interactive activities, special events and facility operations.

As a Head Lifeguard you thrive in a high energy, team environment that encourages and recognizes success. You will provide leadership, direction and supervision to a team of high performing Lifeguards, Instructors, and facility support staff. You will ensure the facility is well maintained and kept clean and safe on a daily basis, in accordance with BC Health Act. You will perform, and direct staff in routine maintenance such as cleaning change rooms, performing scheduled checks of water quality and equipment functions. On occasion, you may be required to instruct leadership courses, in-service training and assist in developing program and activity schedules suited to the needs and interests of the facility participants. In addition, you will lead or participate in planning, organizing and delivering special events and leisure swim activities.

A thorough knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, filtration and recreation facility maintenance; current guarding techniques and departmental procedures including applicable safety regulations are required.

The successful candidate will have:
??? Completed grade 12 plus formal lifeguard and instructor training.
??? A minimum of 2 years??? experience and training as a Lifeguard / Instructor, Assistant Head Lifeguard or Head Lifeguard.
??? Current certificates in: National Lifeguard Service ??? Pool Option Award and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and CPR ???C??? with Auto External Defibrillation certificate
??? Pool Operator level one certificate

One or more Industry aquatic courses are desired. This position requires an individual who enjoys interaction and teamwork and who is committed to the delivery of a beneficial recreational experience to the City of Surrey.
