The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. March 6, 2017 to approx. March 9, 2018) Solid Waste Coordinator I to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Strategic Initiatives Department.

Reporting to the Manager, Energy and Solid Waste, you will be responsible in this unionized position for developing and implementing various energy, solid waste and recycling programs. The objectives are to increase energy efficiency, waste reduction and diversion; developing educational strategies and materials; coordinating community programs such as the adopt-a-program and backyard composting. This position also requires delivering workshops and presentations to schools, community groups, and businesses; undertaking assessments, drafting of contract documents; managing databases; and preparing technical reports.

Your education will include completion of a diploma in environmental studies or public relations plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of a variety of solid waste reduction and diversion programs; the ability to develop and implement approved solid waste management programs, as well as be a fast-paced, detail-oriented, independent and well-organized individual. Previous Municipal experience would be an asset.

A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required. A current Driver???s Abstract (select the 5 years??? option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete. The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $32.63 - $38.52 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates) plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
