Job Description: This position involves a range of park construction activities, related to new development and renovation of park facilities.

In this position you will work under the direction of the Park Technician, Park Structures Coordinator, and the Section Manager to perform manual and semi-skilled tasks involving considerable physical effort in renovating and constructing park structures requiring more complexity than the Structural Worker 1.
Duties: The Structural Worker will assist Park Development staff in construction activities, including site layout, applying finishing materials, framing and form work, renovation and refinishing, assembly and installation of site fixtures, placing and finishing concrete.

You will also assist in the renovation and installation of playgrounds, water parks, sport courts, youth parks, park buildings, park signage, lighting systems, utility services, bridges and stairs, backstops and fencing, picnic shelters, benches, and other miscellaneous park related structural elements.
Educational Requirements: The successful candidate will have the following:
??? Completion of grade 12,
??? A course on supervision
??? Completion of five additional courses from an accredited post-secondary education institution in any of the following course areas:
o Blueprint and plan reading
o Structural materials
o Grading and drainage
o Use of survey equipment
o Landscape construction
o Carpentry
o Certification as a Canadian Certified Playground Inspector, CSA

If not CSA certified, certification as a Canadian Playground Inspector to be obtained within first year of employment.
Skill Requirements: You have a minimum of 2 years??? experience and training in the renovation and construction of structures as well as a valid BC Driver???s License with a safe driving history. You will have sound knowledge of construction materials, assemblies, and procedures, and competency on standard hand and power tools.
