We have a unique opportunity for a skilled and motivated safety professional to join our team as the Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator (OHSC). Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety, the OHSC will provide safety expertise to City departments, assist to develop and implement the City???s Occupational Health and Safety initiatives and foster a strong proactive safety culture.

The wide diversity of our City services require an energetic team player with the ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with all City staff, WorkSafe representatives, industry counterparts and external consultants.

Key responsibilities include:
??? Assist in accident/incident investigations and ensure completion of follow up actions
??? Research, plan, organize and/or conduct safety training programs
??? Facilitate and oversee workplace inspections ensuring regulatory safety compliance
??? Coordinate MSDS/SDS library for controlled products
??? Assist with action plan completion to obtain/maintain COR certification
??? Assist to ensure City compliance with OHS regulation, legislation, policy and best practices.

As the ideal candidate you have:

??? A Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
??? Comprehensive knowledge of WorkSafeBC, OHS and other applicable safety regulations
??? Minimum 3 years??? experience in a similar role in a unionized environment, municipal experience an asset
??? Strong computer skills
??? Valid Class 5 BC Driver???s Licence and a safe driving history.
??? Strong customer service focus, superior communication and interpersonal skills
