The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Soil Deposit and Removal Coordinator to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Engineering and Construction Services Department.

Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for enforcing policies, regulations and bylaws related to soil, other material deposit and removal, and the protection of the environment. You will provide education, mediation and progressive enforcement where appropriate, including prosecution when compliance is not achieved. You will also investigate complaints, including inspection and monitoring; and responding to the soils hotline, referring work assignments to technical staff as required. Your duties will also include organizing and attending various site inspections and meetings; participating in legal action proceedings; recommending mitigation measures, improvements and alterations to reduce or control environmental impacts; as well as reviewing applications for soil deposit and removal.

Your education will include a diploma in environmental science, environmental management, engineering technology, ecology or a related discipline, supplemented by courses in bylaw enforcement, inspection and conflict resolution, plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have considerable knowledge of the bylaws, legislation, policies, rules, regulations, requirements and procedures applicable to the work; as well as the ability to interpret bylaws and regulations to the public; maintain a variety of records and reports; and use the required software as related to the work. It is imperative you are able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts such as representatives of government agencies, the private sector and local environmental groups.

A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required. A current Driver???s Abstract (select the 5 years??? option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $32.63 - $38.52 per hour (5 steps, 2015 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00am ??? 4:30pm.
