The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist II to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Roads Operations Department.

Reporting to the Roads Operations Manager, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing designing, estimating, inspecting, and reviewing functions for road works, bridges, boulevards, traffic systems and related facilities. Functions may include: letter, memo, and report writing; reviewing studies; drafting specifications and contract documents; estimating costs; liaising with other agencies and the public; and field work including construction inspection. Contract and pavement cut permit administration and related functions will also be performed, including supervision of contractors, reviewing of progress payment certificates, and approval of change orders. It is imperative you are familiar with traffic and transportation theory and have demonstrated a track record in establishing policies, procedures and operational guidelines for municipal engineering standards. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and enthusiastic individual who is well organized and able to communicate effectively with the community, consultants and contractors.

Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Civil and Structural Technology, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus considerable related experience preferably in a Municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have experience in all aspects of the duties outlined including computer applications In addition to a comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, terminology, practices and techniques, the successful candidate should have experience in design and construction. A minimum of five years directly related experience obtained in a municipal engineering environment of a Municipal Government Engineering Department or a Municipal Consulting Engineering Company would be an asset.

Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of BC and a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required. A current Driver???s Abstract (select the 5 years??? option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete.
