Job Description: As a member of the Fire Department???s leadership team, you manage all aspects of the City of Chilliwack Emergency Program. You have extensive experience with emergency preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery plans for major emergencies and incidents. You possess extensive knowledge, training and practical experience in emergency disaster management and the Incident Command System.
Duties: You support and liaise with City staff, volunteer groups and other internal and external organizations. Your community engagement and facilitation skills support you to plan, deliver and evaluate emergency preparedness training for all City staff and external stakeholders.

Your facilities maintenance responsibilities encompass six firehalls and an emergency operations centre. You maintain an effective communication system, provide operations logistical support for equipment, and assist with fleet planning and maintenance.

As a chief officer reporting to the Fire Chief, you are an operational Duty Chief and act as Local Assistant to the Fire Commissioner. You are required to work flexible hours to meet the emergency preparedness and operational requirements of our composite fire department.
Educational Requirements: You have a bachelor???s degree in public administration, business, or fire science or you have an acceptable combination of post-secondary education and experience.
Skill Requirements: You are a capable leader with excellent critical thinking, budgeting, time management and planning skills. You are an accomplished interpersonal communicator with demonstrated social media, report writing and public speaking capabilities. You possess excellent public relations and team building skills.

Additional Information: The position requires you to have a current and valid Class 5 B.C. Driver???s License and to reside within the City of Chilliwack.
