The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist II to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division; Water Resources and Environment Department.

Reporting to the Manager of Water Resources and Environment, you will be responsible in this unionized position for performing design, analysis, inspection, and review functions for municipal water, sanitary, and drainage systems and related facilities. Functions may include letter, memo, report, and technical writing; reviewing studies; drafting specifications and contract documents including request for proposals and tenders; estimating costs; liaising with other agencies and the public; carrying out drafting work; water and sewer computer modelling; water and sewer use projections; pipe flow calculations; condition assessments; and field work including construction inspection. Contract administration and related functions will also be performed.

Your education will include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a diploma in Civil Technology, or equivalent education, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus considerable related experience preferably in a Municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, terminology, practices and techniques; be familiar with a variety of engineering software packages, databases, and utilities applications; as well as be an energetic and enthusiastic individual who is well organized and able to communicate effectively with the community, consultants and contractors. Experience in sewer and water computer modelling, civil design, drafting experience and at least two years??? experience in an engineering environment would be assets.

Registration or eligibility for registration as a Graduate Technologist within the Province of BC and a valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required. A current Driver???s Abstract (select the 5 years??? option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete. The CUPE rate of pay for this position $35.43 - $41.82 per hour (5 steps; 2015 rates), plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am ??? 4:30pm.
