Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Environmental Services Team. The qualified candidate will coordinate, design and execute a broad range of environmental initiatives, focusing primarily on air quality and climate change. The coordination of communications and public outreach activities that foster sustainable behavior are essential to this position.

This role offers the opportunity to make a difference in communities across the region and to work closely with other government agencies, as we collaborate to protect our fragile airshed. The candidate will also be involved in other environmental projects including solid waste management. The position will offer a rewarding career to a discerning environmental professional.
Educational Requirements: ??? A degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Education, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, Resource Management, Communications or related field with a good understanding of and experience working with environmental issues relating to air quality, climate change, and solid waste or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Skill Requirements: ??? Experience in local government service delivery including air quality initiatives is preferred, and knowledge of related legislation and policies would be an asset;
??? Experience in public awareness initiatives, project management , and conducting research and feasibility studies is required;
??? Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly, and converse with a wide range of people including technical consultants, elected officials, staff, and the general public;
??? Experience in developing communication tools and educational materials on environmental issues would be an asset;
??? Excellent writing skills, with the ability to write in a clear and concise manner, prepare well written technical and administrative reports and give presentations;
??? Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with consultants, contractors, stakeholders, staff, elected officials, advisory bodies and the public;
??? Must be in possession of a valid Driver???s Licence.
Salary: The start rate for this full-time position Union Position is $31.83 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package. Upon successful completion of the required six month probationary period, the wage will increase to $37.45 per hour.
