The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Community Council Support Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Corporate Administration Division; Mayor and Council Support Department.

Reporting to the Executive Assistant I, you will be responsible in this exempt position, for providing confidential administrative services and support to the Director, Executive Assistant, Mayor and Council members; reviewing incoming mail and other general correspondence from the public, community groups, and other municipalities; providing preliminary phone dialogue and customer service to a wide variety of contacts; and for ensuring proper filing and electronic storage of records; as well as scheduling appointments, meetings, civic functions, and appearances for the Director or Mayor and Council.

Your education will include completion of grade 12, plus experience with confidential clerical support and community public relations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. It is essential you have excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong organization skills, and the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines. You are also able to exercise discretion and diplomacy in dealing with confidential matters, as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts. Adequate typing skills, computer skills, and knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques relating to public relations, especially to local governmental agencies and organizations are necessary. A minimum of 5 years related experience working in an office environment and working in municipal government are considered assets.

A valid BC Class 5 (full-privilege) driver???s license or equivalent driver???s license for where you reside is required. A current Driver???s Abstract (select the 5 years??? option if obtaining online) that has been obtained within 6 months of the closing date below must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for this opportunity and in order for your application to be complete.
