Job Description: The Traffic Management Coordinator is intermediate technical, field and administrative work in coordinating traffic management at construction and work sites through the application of by-laws, zoning regulations and industry standards.

An incumbent in this class must work closely with other departments, members of the construction and development industry, government bodies, and the public to coordinate and resolve traffic related issues.

Considerable independence and judgment are exercised within the framework of established guidelines while unusual problems or those requiring a change in policy are discussed with a superior before action is taken. This position will involve working in an office environment and in the field.
Duties: Typical duties would include:

??? Coordinates traffic management at construction and work sites
??? Liaises with the public, other departments, senior levels of government and the development community to coordinate construction and road activities to avoid disruption of traffic and congestion
??? Formulates and reviews traffic management plans
??? Considers and adheres to departmental regulations and city standards, including those of Land Development, Customer Service by-laws, Transportation Design and Construction, Utilities and Traffic Management, as well as external requirements.
??? Provides direction and guidance to other staff on matters related to the work. Performs other job related duties as required.
Educational Requirements: The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by a two (2) year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in business, Engineering or Planning, with one year exposure to work in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is essential and a valid BC Driver???s License with a safe driving record is required.
