The Infrastructure Planning Division of the Engineering and Regional Utilities Department develops long-term capital plans, polices, master plans, bylaws and processes development applications that guides the growth of the City and Regional Utilities according to the City???s newly updated Official Community Plan. This Division will help guide the infrastructure investments in the City and achieve Council???s vision for the City ??????to be the Hub of the Fraser Valley.??? This Division will also help shape the future of the City and is viewed as a builder of community that will attract and retain people to live, work and play in the City of Abbotsford.

We are excited to be looking for a talented person to fill this key position in our Transportation team as a Senior Transportation Engineer, reporting to the Director, Infrastructure Planning.

As the Senior Transportation Engineer you will lead, coach and support a group of Engineering professionals, while managing multiple engineering projects, programs and expenditures. You will be responsible for long range planning, concept plans, development applications, establishing a master plan, and applying, developing and updating policies and bylaws. As the City???s technical expert you will work closely with external consultants, as well as respond to enquiries from the public and outside agencies.

You will provide expertise to support the design and development of the Transportation Master Plan; your superior organization and project management skills will allow you to effectively deliver major projects spanning multiple departments, you will be relied upon to develop leading edge initiatives and find pragmatic solutions to issues facing City infrastructure. Your professionalism and superior communication skills will serve you well as you will be called upon to prepare and present reports to Committees, Council and Senior Management. You will provide support in developing the City???s Active Transportation Corridors, providing solutions for bicyclists and pedestrian facilities. You will review development applications and provide technical guidance to other departments ensuring infrastructure is adequate to accommodate future growth. Knowledge and experience using Traffic Modelling software such as Synchro/SimTraffic or Vissim, would be an asset.

If you are a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng), with a minimum of 7 years of work experience in Traffic/Transportation Engineering we encourage you to submit your resume and cover letter.
