The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Financial Analyst (from approx. February 13, 2017 to approx. January 30, 2018) to join our team of professionals in the Finance Division; Financial Services Department.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, you will be responsible in this unionized position for assisting in preparation of instruction manuals and presentation of training seminars on the budget process; maintaining general ledger and budget files; reviewing and analyzing actual results and reports to a superior on trends, unusual variations and control systems; and assisting departments in identifying needs for financial data and financial forecasting models. You will assist a superior and other departments in the development and maintenance of the municipality???s long-term financial plans; review all government or other grant applications to ensure that they meet Finance Department requirements, prepare year-end adjustments and working papers for use by the municipality???s auditors as required; as well as analyzing a variety of data - preparing financial, statistical and analytical reports, related invoices and correspondence; and prepare reports for senior management on matters such as project cost effectiveness and alternative funding sources.

Your education will include completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA/ CGA) plus at least three years post qualification experience in municipal accounting and finance or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have considerable knowledge of the methods, rules and regulations applicable to municipal accounting operations and budgeting; excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills; good working knowledge of computer applications; and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of municipal staff and with various outside contacts. Good working knowledge of AGRESSO software and a minimum of three years??? experience would be assets.

Registration in a recognized professional accounting society is required.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $35.43 - $41.82 per hour (5 steps; 2015 rates) plus 12.4% in lieu of all benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
