We are currently offering an exciting leadership opportunity for a self-motivated and driven professional to join our team as Manager, Building Inspection. This role is a vital member of the Planning and Development team, and oversees the department responsible for issuing and administering building licences, building permits, plumbing permits, demo permits and sign permits for the City in accordance with applicable safety codes, regulations and bylaws.

Reporting to the Director, Building and Development Engineering, this crucial role is accountable for providing strategic direction to the Building Inspection Branch in the Building Division, overseeing the ongoing inspection activities relative to building permits and business licences, providing guidance, advice and direction to staff respecting issues, problems or responsibilities arising from their daily tasks, ensuring staff credentials are maintained and plans for succession are met, and developing processes and policies in keeping with appropriate risk-managed municipal involvement in all types of building construction that takes place within the City.

The successful candidate will establish and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with all key stakeholders, and will work with a high degree of independent action and judgment within established policies and procedures.

??? Professional Engineer or Registered Architect, or a combination of a diploma in Technology or a TQ designation plus Level III Certification and current standing as a Registered Building Official with the Building Officials??? Association of BC.
??? Minimum of 5 years management experience in building design and construction or municipal government.
