||Employees in this position are responsible for coordinating a variety of programming tasks for the fitness program. Under the direction of the program coordinator, they are responsible for: assisting in the planning, delivery, coordination, marketing, budgeting and evaluation of the Fitness Program; recruiting instructors; supervising, coordinating and scheduling instructors in the program; and monitoring the activities in the weight room and providing personal training.
While considerable independence of judgment is authorized for the performance of tasks within generally established guidelines, more complex or unusual situations are reviewed with the supervisor to determine the appropriate action.
||Assist supervisor in the planning, delivery, coordination, marketing and evaluation of the Fitness Program.
Under the direction of the program coordinator, supervise, schedule and coordinate work of fitness instructors
Assist supervisor with recruitment of instructors and ensure that criminal record checks are completed
Monitor and assess work performed to ensure that it meets a high standard of quality, efficiency and customer service, and is performed in compliance with appropriate safety regulations
In conjunction with supervisor, provide verbal and/or written performance feedback and performance assessments of Instructors
Assist to arrange and/or participate in the training and development of Instructors.
Monitor the activities of the weight room, schedule weight room attendants and provide personal training as required
Maintain a variety of records related to the fitness program and weight room
Participate in the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and work methodology
Review Instructor time sheets and submit to supervisor for approval
Assist supervisor with preparing and monitoring the budget for the program
Performs related duties as required.
||A minimum of Grade 12 plus the BCRPA Supervisor of Fitness Leaders (SFL) award supplemented by a supervisory course, or academic equivalent
Minimum of 3 years experience in a fitness environment combined with experience in program planning, administration, supervision and training of staff in a recreation environment.
Required Licenses, Certificates and Registration:
BCRPA Certified Personal Trainer
Valid Occupational First Aid certification
Current CPR Level C certification
Valid BC driver's license
||Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and to communicate tactfully and effectively
Ability to organize and prioritize workload and to meet tight deadlines in a relativity unstructured environment
Ability to assign, check, supervise and evaluate work of instructors
Ability to prepare and maintain records related to the position
Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record clearance
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic word processing and data entry skills
||This time-durated, part-time position is approximately 25 hours per week with shifts that include evenings, weekends and some holidays. The rate of pay is $28.82 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits.
