Project Engineer - Design & Construction Municipality: City of Surrey This posting closed on March 26, 2012 at 4:30 PM Department: Engineering Job Description: The Engineer-in-Training works under the direction of Professional Engineers in a variety of areas in the development, analysis, investigation, construction and maintenance of Civil Engineering projects. Duties: You will prepare technical drawings, sketches and designs for Civil Engineering projects, prepare and interpret Engineering plans and specifications, as well as prepare technical calculations, estimates, correspondence and reports for routine Engineering projects. In addition, you will assist in managing the design and construction process of projects; perform field inspections and investigations on projects, as required, and research, analyze, prepare and give recommendations as written or oral presentations. Educational Requirements: As the successful candidate you will have a University degree in civil or municipal engineering. Some experience in related municipal work and some supervisory experience are preferred. You must have status or eligibility to register as an Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (APEG), proficiency in the use of standard MS Office software, and a valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving record. Skill Requirements: You must have effective oral presentation skills, as well as strong written communications skills, particularly with detailed and complex technical reports, procedures and correspondence. You must also have sound knowledge of engineering calculations, practices, nomenclature, design principles and methods and knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal engineering.
