| Job Description: |
As a member of the Planning and Development Department’s Building Division team you will be responsible for processing and reviewing building permit applications for multi-residential, small commercial and industrial buildings and related construction. Also, you will provide information services at the Front Counter including technical, regulatory, bylaw and policy advice related to permit and Building Code requirements.
You possess effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to read and interpret building construction plans and drawings. In addition you will have a thorough knowledge of relevant by-laws, codes, regulations and working knowledge of the standard practices and materials utilized in building construction.
Qualified applicants will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by a diploma in Building Technology and considerable experience in plan checking or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Technical achievement of the Level II Certificate from the Building Official's Association of BC or equivalent, and a valid BC driver’s license are required.
