Job Description: The Fire Rescue Department seeks Auxiliary Firefighters to fill vacancies within their auxiliary pool. Auxiliary Firefighters supplement the services of full-time firefighters by carrying a pager and responding to calls as needed, subject to availability. Called to the Fire Hall when the full-time crew is unavailable for extended time periods, they may then be called to attend a medical, alarm, or fire emergency. They may also be called directly to an accident or fire scene where the full-time crew requires additional support.
Skill Requirements: Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
• Live within a 6 km radius of the Fire Department;
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record;
• No conviction for a criminal offence related to a firefighter’s job duties;
• Capable of meeting the physical demands of the position;
• Ability to respond regularly to calls and be available to attend practice drills on Tuesday evening;
• Interest in providing assistance to those in the Community and demonstrated quality of character.

Preference will be given to those applicants with:
• Knowledge of building construction methods or experience in a related trade or mechanical aptitude;
• Experience providing first aid and current Occupational First Aid or First Responder certification;
• Courses or training related to the Fire Service.
