This is a field and office position that assists the Engineering Department to monitor Abbotsford’s water conservation programs and watering restrictions. Specific responsibilities include: • Patrolling by vehicle or on foot to monitor for indications of illegal watering. The successful incumbent will investigate complaints, issue warnings, provide education materials and liaise with engineering and bylaw staff if further action is required. • Answering of the water conservation hot line as required, providing information on watering restrictions and documenting details of complaints to investigate. • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and firmly with the public and exercise sound judgment and discretion. • Will prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and correspondence related to the work. • Excellent public relations and customer service skills are required and knowledge of other languages is an asset (including Punjabi). Qualifications: • Must have a valid B.C. driver’s license; • Preference will be given to those applicant who possess computer skills with knowledge in MS Access, Excel, and Word; • Familiar with the Abbotsford area. The rate of pay for these seasonal union positions is $13.57 per hour plus an additional 8.4% in lieu of benefits.
