AMI Technologist I
We are currently offering an exciting opportunity in our Engineering Department for an AMI Technologist I. This is technical and administrative engineering work performed in the Engineering Department carrying out and assisting staff with work related to the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system.
The incumbent works with limited independence of judgment and action in the technical and administrative aspects of the work, referring complex technical or policy issues to the supervisor who reviews the work in terms of technical adequacy, conformance to established standards and practices and achievement of desired objectives.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Maintains water meter database. Prepares transfer files for utility billing.
• Uses the AMI software to detect system leaks and mine consumption data to be used for Engineering studies.
• Assist Engineering Technologist II in the Operation and maintenance of computer models for municipal infrastructure planning.
• Perform customer service duties related to water metering and billing.
• Preparation of reports, studies, technical correspondence related to water metering infrastructure.
• Provide technical support to Clerical staff for water service and metering issues.
• Respond to enquiries from public, other departments about water metering infrastructure and billing.
Qualifications:
• Completion of Grade 12, plus a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent related diploma from a recognized educational institute.
• A minimum of six (6) months related experience in a civil engineering environment.
• Eligibility for membership in the Association of Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C. at the technologist level or membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. as an Engineer-in-Training.
• Valid B.C. Driver’s License.
