The Township of Langley is seeking a regular full-time Recreation Attendant I to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division currently hosting and operating our Township hall general inquiry customer service counters at both the Civic Facility and Operations Centre.
The customer service driven incumbent performs accurate and professional public contact, clerical and custodial work. An employee of this class provides factual information and assistance in response to public enquiries. They receive, record and reconcile payments from patrons paying taxes, registering for recreation programs, rentals, facility use or other municipal business payments by using a point of sale system. They perform minor custodial and set-up duties, routine patrol as required; may assume responsibility for security of the centre; assists and orients auxiliary employees; and, opens/closes and oversees a facility during a regularly scheduled shift. It is essential that the ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, is energetic and enthusiastic, is well organized plus is able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external contacts.
The successful candidate has Grade 12, and must have a current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate (both updated every two years). Candidates must have the experience and ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public under varying conditions, in person, by telephone or email; the ability to receive and reconcile payments and issue change accurately and promptly; and the ability to maintain clerical records related to the work. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
This CUPE position rate of pay is $18.14 - $21.27 per hour, plus benefits. The hours of work are Sunday 7:45 am – 3:45 pm; Monday and Tuesday 5:45 am – 1:45 pm; Wednesday and Thursday 1:30 pm – 9:30 pm.
