The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a temporary full-time (from approx. December 1, 2009 to approx. December 1, 2010) Support Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Finance Division, Accounting Operations Department.

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting Operations, you will be responsible in this unionized position for checking, entering and verifying data such as budget information, hours worked, acting rates, sick leave, vacation time; processing accounts receivable, accounts payable transactions and inventory transactions; checking balances, matching and verifying invoices and prices; batching and forwarding invoices for payment authorization, as well as posting, maintaining and balancing entries, charges, statements and related data manually or by computer terminal. You will also maintain and update a variety of computer or manual files and records related to the work.

This position will appeal to a detail-oriented, independent and well-organized individual who has completion of the l2th school grade including or supplemented by commercial and accounting courses. Considerable related experience preferably in a municipal department or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this role. Sound knowledge of office practices and procedures, knowledge of recordkeeping, billing, indexing, and related clerical functions are required.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $20.41 - $24.00 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
